First introduced in 2012 FatCloth is the first multipurpose pocket square made of durable microfibre fabric. It is above all a contemporary pocket square designed to be used, not merely as a decorative item, but as an everyday tool fit for a modern gentleman’s lifestyle.
By using durable silky & smooth microfibre fabric (185 g/m2, 80% polyester, 20% polyamide), the original FatCloth enables heavy-duty usage whilst still maintaining the quality feel and look required from the the silk pocket squares of today.

The History
The original idea for a multipurpose pocket square was born during a hot summer wedding when wool suits combined with good times led to some heavy perspiring. Silk squares were not a good solution to this problem and something seemed to be missing. What we needed was a stylish pocket square that could double function as a hanky if the situation should require it.
The company FatCloth Oy was founded late 2011 in Helsinki, Finland by five friends with different backgrounds. The following year FatCloth won the People’s Choice award at the Nordic Startup Awards in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was proof that there were other people like us out there that had a need for this kind of product as much as we did.
Our Thinking
The FatCloth bases its name on the Finnish word “läskiliina”, which has been used to portray the piece of fabric used by men of significant posture to wipe perspiration off their face in situations that require a quick brush up and a moment to gather one’s thoughts.
In history these heavyweight men have held positions of power and had high standards of living. They have been described as successful, navigators of their time.
As women have sought to avoid awkward moments and embarrassment in the past by carefully maintaining their appearance with makeup and elegance, these men have not feared what others have thought of them. They have battled each event of discomfort when the situation has required it. And they have done this with style – laughing at the face of their ordeals.
The FatCloth is in the essence of this mindset. Every man faces moments in his life that put him in a position where he has to decide either to feel self made discomfort and embarrassment or to shrug those feelings off with a confident tap of the FatCloth accompanied by a smile that other men of confidence can recognise and share.
